I don’t know about you, but I am ready for the New Year. My commitment to you going into 2022 is making sure we’re all set up to have a lot more fun. It’s time, and we need it!
Just four quick things for you this quarter:
1) The Fun Habit is now available for preorder (← click here)! The release date is June 14, 2022, but you can reserve your copy now. I’m planning some really cool bonuses for those who grab the book early, so please hold onto the receipt if you do order early.
2) I need your help! Each chapter of The Fun Habit starts with a quote from a comedian. The chapter on fun and family still needs a great quote. Can you help me by sending me your favorite comedic quote on parenting? If the quote gets used in the book, I will include you in the acknowledgments.
3) To build energy around the coming book launch, I will be reaching out monthly for the next six months. I want to be considerate of your inbox, so if you’d like me to put reaching out on pause during this period, please reply to this email and let me know. (You won’t hurt my feelings.)
4) Travel might not be top of mind right now with Omicron running rampant, but I know many of us are eager to hit the road again once it’s deemed safe. This quarter’s interviewees are experts in getting the most out of travel, so please take a look to ensure a successful takeoff once the world opens up again. (Links to the interviews are below.)
Lee Huffman hosts the weekly ‘We Travel There with Lee Huffman’ podcast. His work has been published on many popular websites, including Forbes, Investopedia, and FinanceBuzz. Lee also maintains the travel website Bald Thoughts providing readers with strategies on how to travel the world economically. Read our interview about travel hacking here.
Jedd Chang is a true digital nomad. In 2014, after serving two years in the Peace Corps, he became completely location-independent. He runs the travel blog Intentional Travelers with his wife, Michelle. Jedd also functions as the head concierge of the World Domination Summit. Read our interview about how to travel intentionally here.
I was able to pack in a good amount of life experience this quarter. Made it to Dallas and got in some bull riding. Had a book listed on Amazon for the first time in my life, and still managed to get in some fun time with the family. The bottom picture is Anna and me riding on The Polar Express at the NC Transportation Museum.
My contribution this quarter was in the form of donations to the Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease Foundation, the Culver City Education Foundation, the AfroChicano Press, the Oak Ridge Dance Team, and HiTOPS.
As we round out 2021, let me simply end this quarter’s newsletter by conveying how grateful I am that we are sharing this journey of trying to make the world just a bit more fun, and doing our best to make sure that fun is inclusive for everyone.
Wherever this finds you, thank you. I wish you, and those close to you, a fun-filled and prosperous year ahead.
Yours in fun,
Mike Rucker, Ph.D.
